Just 3 months to go until Brazil encounters Croatia in the opening match on June 12th. It has often been an amusing, if not partly true, anecdote: Brazil could field one team of 11 players for the first 45 minutes of a game and an entirely different selection of players in the second 45 minutes…& probably still win. Besides being labeled as maybe the best soccer team in the world, they have the pressure of winning because the the game is on their land.
Although jersey colors have changed, the team who still imposes fear with their impressive skills is the Brazilians. They waltzed to victory over South Africa when Neymar scored an impressive hat trick. Neymar has now scored 30 goals in 47 games for Brazil. After winning the Confederations Cup last year with an incredible win against reigning world and European champions. “For us it was a very important game and not just a friendly match” Brazil’s technical director, Carlos Alberto Parreira told The Associated Press after the game. “We needed to set the scene and give a good inspiration ahead of the World Cup.” And this is how they are expecting brazil to have confidence in them, but Brazil is not the only country who is impressing media and the world.
Ecuador gave a big and impressive surprise on March 5 against Australia who had a clear difference of 3 goals during the first half. After Rueda, their technical director made a lot of changes in his team formation, Ecuador started to play as they are known to. It started at minute 54 when Jeff Montero initiate a play with an extraordinary pass to Enner Valencia who dribbled 2 defenses and gave a precise pass to Fidel Martinez who concrecated a goal with his left foot. Goals kept entering getting a tie 3 to 3, until minute 90 were Edison Mendez enters the field. 2 minutes later after an excellent take down of Antonio Valencia who sent a pass to Fidel Martinez who fails to shoot, but Edison Mendez was to back him up and send the ball to the net 20 seconds before the match ended. All of the 15 games played that day were really disputed but is until june when the real spirit of the team will be shown. We will be counting down the days until the World Cup here at El Barrio. Until then, we will keep you updated on the latest in this news.
