Mirror Mirror Conference at Menor

Colegio Menor is a school filled with interesting and entertaining activities for a wide range of ages. The Holesome life department is responsible for the biggest activity done on the months of February and March. Mapri Gray, the high school psychologist, has come up with the “Love Yourself Self-esteem” awareness campaign. The purpose of the self-awareness month is to help students realize the negative effects that poor self- esteem having in the present teen population. Colegio Menor´s community will be encouraged to stop the projection of an individual´s negative self-image, and improve their confidence.

Low self-esteem could lead to highly dangerous and delicate problems such as eating disorders, cutting, depression, and drug abuse. It is very important that students learn how to attain happiness by practicing positive ways to stop negative thoughts. Parents are also involved in the development of a satisfied and content child, since they are an important guide on the student’s life.

In order to reinforce such ideas a very important conference will be taking place the 14th and 15th of April. The conference is called “Mirror Mirror” and it is a two day conference designed to support teenagers from grades 7-12, regarding healthy habits, body image and self-esteem issues. The conference will be composed of exerts in the issue. There will be 5 main topics presented:

  • Developing a positive self-esteem
  • Skills and confidence, teambuilding activities
  • Coping with stress, anger, hurt and anxiety
  • Nutrition/ Body Image
  • Healthy Habits

The Holesome Life department is doing an excellent job and we all should be grateful. In order to create a healthy and positive environment we should all try assisting the conferences in order to learn skills that will help us personally as well as those who surround us.
