In a place that was once known as North America, and now is known as Panem, is a very rich City surrounded by twelve Districts. Every year The Capitol likes to think they control all the Districts because they are so rich. And in fact they do. They decide to do something known as The Hunger Games. This is an event where two children, one boy and one girl from each of the district between the ages of twelve to eighteen, have to leave their families and compete in The Hunger Games, a live event that is aired on TV’s all over Panem. This is the story of Katniss Everdeen, sixteen years old from District 12. She volunteers herself to take the place of her little sister Prim after Prim’s name is called and she has to become the 23rd member to compete in The 74th annual Hunger Games. Katniss makes Prim a promise that she might not be able to keep. Katniss doesn’t believe she’s going to get out of this alive but she’s not loosing without a fight. She clearly doesn’t want to hurt, or kill anyone but when it comes to this she knows she has to survive. Later in the novel she starts to have confusing feelings about a boy from her district and because of these things get worse. At this point Katniss stars to question herself: Will her feelings get the best of her? Will she let someone else win so they don’t have to die? If Katniss wants to win it is going to be brutal and the worst, she´ll have to kill. This is the first time I read The Hunger Games. And since it started I knew I wanted to read it again. I would really suggest reading it if you haven’t yet, it’s really different from other stuff I read. And it’s a good book to take you somewhere else. This book allows you to travel to Panem and be part of Katniss life. Although it will be more difficult reading it the second time round because I have now seen the film and I will still imagine it completely differently to how they did it in the film.
