Mock exams are finally coming to an end! Students have been studying hard but stress levels are slowly decreasing. Wednesday the 23rd was the first day of exams and today Friday 30, the last mock exam is taking place. The AP mocks exams replace the final exam.
AP exams which are collage class credits will be tested the second week of May. Even if the mock exams are only practice, they prepare the students for what they will be taking the actual exam on May. The schedule of the exams was the following:
In a survey, the majority of students said that from a scale from 1 to 5, 1 being the least, the level of stress was 5, the level of organization from the teacher was 4, and the level of preparedness was 4 as well. This means that even if the exams were overall hard, we should expect good results.
After interviewing a former twelve grader this is some of the opinions she had about the mock exams.
Rafaela, what is your overall opinion of these weeks’ exams?
I believe these mock exams were very sudden and I would have liked to know in advance that we were going to have a mock exam sent from the College Board as the final exam.
Do you think the AP mock exams had any benefit?
Yes. I think that they helped us visualize how a real AP is formatted and we can also learn how to manage our time correctly under stress. However, I think that the dates for the exams were badly organized since some teachers were not even finished with the course material and we had to be tested on some aspects that were not familiar to us.
Do you have any tips for the rest of students that will be taking the exam next year?
They need to study with enough time and not the previous night. For me, the most important thing was to have a good night sleep.
Do you think the AP Mock should be used as your final test grade for the class or only be considered a practice exam?
I believe the exam is really useful but when it I considered a final grade, stress levels increase and students are extremely overwhelmed.
Rafaela, as well as other students had things positive and negative things to say about these exams.
